  1. I'm truly more psyched about 2011 than I have been about any year before it. This year I turn 30 (on 11-11-11!!!) and I have "resolved" to be the happiest and healthiest me I've ever been! :-D

Relating to the power of want, I recently took a couple of suggestions to heart and I've already started to feel the impact. In short, Kay recommended that I create an "I LOVE My Body" email to myself, which was filled with positive details such as my favorite healthy foods (like mixed greens with sweet fresh fruit... no dressing!) and my favorite clothes for the ideal me (that bikini I've always wanted but never owned). After reviewing this message (and speaking the affirmations *out loud*) twice per day for three days, I really did begin to "feel the love." I may not have noticeably affected my outside, but I am totally aware of the change that occurred within.

This lesson in self-appreciation coincides with the material that Marianne Williamson presents via her book entitled A COURSE IN WEIGHT LOSS, which focuses on releasing fear while embracing love. (Thank you, Kay, for turning me on to this.) Although I tend to cringe when I hear the word "God," I think that the underlying message of the triumph of Love over Fear transcends any single belief system. I have already mentioned this to a couple of women in my life because I think that they, too, may embark on a journey of self-discovery with Marianne as their guide.

On a final note, I understand "the power of want" to be/incorporate the process of visualization, which is a method that psychologists discovered is effective in strengthening neural pathways in the absence of physical practice. I recall hearing of cases of athletes who envision themselves succeeding (e.g., scoring the goal, making the basket) to keep their skills sharp when they can't get to the field/court and people with phobias using a similar process to gradually work through their fears.

I know that I am only beginning on this journey, but I am excited to see how the year unfolds. :-)
